It was a great holiday for the Continuum Services family who embraced the spirit of the season by warmly supporting the Metro Detroit Youth Club through their Adopt a Family program.
Suzanne Zavala led the charge, choosing a larger family to maximize the giving! Seven children provided wish lists, and our team shopped for five girls and two boys, ranging in age from four to 16 years old. Beginning around Thanksgiving, the buying commenced! Three collection boxes were set up in the corporate office for all the gifts. To ensure everyone had a chance to participate, our Continuum Services family was encouraged to shop online and ship to the office.
“The great news is we were able to get them things they needed, not just things they wanted,” said Suzanne. Two four-year-old girls needed car booster seats, and a 16-year-old asked for Carhartt safety glasses and safety gloves for his vocational tech class. Sounds like a potential future Continuum Services employee! The team was thrilled and threw in a few additional pieces of Carhartt clothing to his pile.
This year, as in the past, the generous Ted Spicer stepped up to match the value of each gift dollar-for-dollar. This provided a sizable monetary gift for an MDYC family! Everything was delivered on December 16 to the organization’s Southfield Club and hearts were full throughout the Continuum Services family.
The partnership with MDYC means Continuum Services maintains involvement throughout the year, offering the company’s technical services for their buildings. With Patrick O’Neil mentoring the kids, he keeps his eyes and ears open should there be any repair need. And there is even talk of hosting another Career Day this spring, so stay tuned!
Thank you all for your continued efforts to support MDYC!
“I have a soft spot in my heart. I understand the struggle these families go through, especially at Christmastime when there’s barely enough money to get through the week, let alone set aside money for gifts.” – Suzanne Z
